How To Make Bath Salts At Home - The Hand Crafters Companion

A lot of people want to pamper themselves in order to feel relaxed from the everyday stress. Fortunately, nowadays, making bath salts is so easy and very affordable, and the best thing is that you can customize your bath salts to be exactly how you like them. With just a few simple instructions, you will be able to understand and learn how to make bath salts at home. All you will need is your choice of which salt to use, baking soda, liquid glycerin, essential oils such as lavender, peppermint or lemon and decorative jars.

When it comes to the type of bath salt you can use, there are different options or choices for you to choose from. You can opt to use just one salt, but you also have the option to mix and match salts in order to give their mixture a variety of textures. You can choose from sea salt, Epsom salt, Dead Sea salt, Icelandic geo-thermal brine salt or Hawaiian Red Salt. Take note that these salts are proven to have medicinal properties as well.

To make your own bath salts, the first step is to combine a cup of epson salt with a cup of baking soda, two tablespoons of liquid glycerin and a few drops of your favorite essential oils. Make sure to mix them well in order to avoid lumps. You can add more essential oils as needed and a few drops of food color to your mixture if you want to make colorful bath salt. Now add half a cup of sea salt or table salt to your mixture and let it dry overnight. The following day, mix your bath salt completely and make sure to scoop out the lumps.

You can also put some dried herbs, or dried flowers to give your bath salt an added appeal. So for example, if you have used peppermint oil for your bath salt mixture, then you can add dried mint to it. After which you can now transfer your mixture into a decorative jar.

Now that you know how to make bath salts at home, you can always make one to give it as a present to your friends or family. It is also a great gift for co workers especially if you use lavender oil, since it has a calming effect. You can also coordinate the bath salt colors to compliment your bathroom decor.
